Photographing Pairs

Photographing pairs of people works best when you focus on connection rather than posing. Start by giving them something natural to do—walk together, lean into each other, share a joke—anything that creates real interaction. Keep your bodies arranged in complementary shapes (stagger heights, avoid “mirroring,” and use gentle angles to bring their faces closer together).

Watch their hands; hands communicate closeness, so encourage soft contact like a hand on a shoulder, arm around the waist, or fingers intertwined. Use prompts instead of fixed poses—ask one person to whisper something funny, or have them take a slow step toward each other. This creates genuine expression and helps them relax, giving you images filled with personality, warmth, and authentic chemistry.
